1. Name the issue: The Death Penalty

2. Describe one media account of this issue: 60 Minutes

3. Where did you get this media account from? TV

4. Is this media account correct or reliable? Why? Yes it is reliable because it shows both sides of the story . Also it has professionals giving their opinion. Here is a website that has some very good facts relating to the death penalty. http://www.religioustolerance.org/execut3.htm

5. Where else might you be able to find more information about this issue?

1. Describe TWO things that you have learnt during this lesson.

The first main point that I learned today was how the media manipulate and modify stories that shape our everyday lives. I learnt this through the completion of the ‘In the news’ activity. The second main point that I learnt today was that news stories that are published in the media do not always contain all the correct information. They are modified so that the newspaper can sell more copies or so the website gains more hits.

2. Identify TWO areas you want to concentrate on during this project that you think need a greater improvement from the last project.

The first area that I want to concentrate on during this project is my presentation skills. I feel that my marks are slipping down 3 or 4 points because I am not presenting as well as I have the talent to. Another area that I want to concentrate on during this project is my teamwork skills. Although I am already receiving a high mark for this section I still would like to further my skills in people management and cooperation with my new team.

3. Discuss TWO ways in which your group could resolve any disputes during this process.

The first way my group can resolve disputes that may occur in the duration of the project is to conduct a meeting in which all members of the group can exert their frustrations. Concluding this meeting all members can try to come to a solution that keeps all members happy. The second and most immoral way of resolving disputes is to contact a teacher. I believe that this is immoral because it doesn’t provide each member with a chance to say what they have to say and it could cause a breakdown of group moral causing the members to not complete the project to a high standard.
