1. Has your image of Jesus changed during the project? How or Why not?

NO not yet because I still have a limited knowledge of the project and because of the time constraints of the journals and individual tasks.

2. What do you feel is the best way to portray an image of Jesus and why?

The best to portray an image of Jesus is through colour and hidden symbols and ways that these symbols are portayed for example hidden writing in an image.

3. What have you enjoyed about the project so far and what would you do differently?

I have enjoyed that we work as a group better and work more faster than other projects. I would the beginings of the project differently by doing all journals and individual tasks first before starting the project.

It wont find anything special, nothing new, it will not find anything that has not already been dicovered.

2. Do you think as a planet we should be researching other planets? why?/why not?

In my opinion we should research other planets so we know if they sustain human life because our population is rising quickly and global warming is increasing and we might have to find another planet to live

THE BIG BANG:

What contribution did the following scientists make towards the big bang theory?

-         Walter Adams.

-         He developed spectroscopic method for determining stellar distances.

-         Ralph Alpher.

-         He published the theory of the big bang

-         He used certain mathematical equations to calculate the age of the universe

THE HUBBLE SPACE TELESCOPE

Research and gather information from the internet about the Hubble Space Telescope. Use the following questions as the basis for your journal entry:

-         What was Hubble’s involvement in space research?

1. What form of medium(music, art or literature) allows you to best connect with Jesus and why?

The medium which allows me to become closer to Jesus is through music. As I am part of the church band I get to play songs of worship and praise and I enjoy the praise through music that I play. Also it is a lot easier to express it through music as you open up your inner feelings through it.

2. Why has Jesus been portrayed in so many different ways throughout history.

Jesus has been portrayed in many ways because:

People wanted to imagine a scene with Jesus and wanted to know what he looked like

To replicate events that happened in his life

And a lot more.

3. How is Jesus protrayed at Parramatta Marist.

At Marist, Jesus is shown on a crucifix in every classroom. He is also shown in some paintings in few rooms in the school.

1 A nebula is a vast cloud of gas and dust in space.

2 The main fuel in stars is hydrogen.

3 Burns hydrogen, red giant, burns helium, white dwarf

4 The limited hydrogen fuel will run out and our Sun will expand to form a red giant and eventually collapse to form a white dwarf. A star with a mass of ten Suns uses up its fuel more rapidly and becomes a blue supergiant and then expands to form a red supergiant which collapses, causing a supernova, resulting in a neutron star.

5 A pulsar is a rapidly rotating neutron star with a strong magnetic field. It emits radio waves that sweep across space.

6 A black hole is formed by the collapse of a star the size of many Suns.

7 We cannot see black holes because light cannot escape from them. We know they exist because of the X-rays emitted by them, and the behaviour of nearby stars.

8 The elements were produced when stars collapsed.

11 Our region of the galaxy rotates around (rather than falling into) the black hole.

12 Jocelyn Bell Burnell discovered pulsars in outer space in 1967 by actually chance! Her and Anthony Hewish were studying distant galaxies, when suddenly their telescope that was pointed in a certain point in the sky detected a pulsed signal. Fisrt scientist and astronemers thought of this signal tobe from an extra-terrestrial civilisation. When the signals were establisked that they were not from that origin, they called a pulsar as its signals are pulsed.

a) Black Holes: A black hole froms when a massive enough star collapses and it becomes even more dense than a neutron star to from a balck hole. It is o dense that even light cannot escape its gravity.

b) Some features that a black hole has are:

• Super strong gravity

• emits Tell-Tale X-rays

• Sucks up anything

1) What words and or images come to mind when you hear the word Jesus.
When I hear the word Jesus, words and images that come to my mind are holy spirit, the picture of the cross, church, priest, mass, the bible, altar, confession, communion, God, Christianity, a vision of my own heaven, clouds, a happy place and much more.

2) Why might it be important for young people to identify with an image of Jesus?
It’s important for young people to identify with an image of Jesus because having an image of Jesus and being identify who he is can bring them closer God.

3) Where in your life do you most associate with images of Jesus?
Mainly you could associate images of Jesus during mass or Christian celebrations when people put up images of Jesus or artworks you see around the Church (e.g. Stations of the Cross, we see Jesus).

Adapting an Australian Poem

Going to School

Did you see them pass by today, Billy, Kate and Robin,

All astride upon the back of old grey Dobbin?

Jigging, jogging off to school, down the dusty track –

What must Dobbin think of it – three upon his back?

Robin at the bridle – rein, in the middle Kate,

Billy holding on behind, his legs out straight.

Now they’re coming back from school, jig, jog, jig,

See them at the corner where the gums grow big;

Dobbin flicking off the flies and blinking at the sun –

Having three upon his back he thinks is splendid fun:

Robin at the bridle – rein, in the middle Kate,

Little Billy up behind, his legs out straight.

Revving, roaring off to school down the busy street –

What must the driver think of this, three kids on the back seat?

The chauffer at the steering wheel, next to him is James,

Tharsan, sitting just behind, waiting to change lanes.

Now they’re coming back from school, roar, rev, roar,

See them at the corner where the tall houses soar;

The GTS is burning bright and shining in the sun –

Having three in the back seat makes the driver want to run:

I modernised it by using a car instead of a horse.

I also described busy streets instead of a dusty track.

I also talked about tall houses instead of big gum trees

I made these changes to make the poem more interesting.

To make it reflect on my life.

It tells us that there have been a lot of changes in our new Australia

I have used Rhyme, Rhythm, Descriptive words (Adjectives), Action words (verbs), Alliteration, Onomatopoeia

1. How is this technique effective in revealing the changes?

The techniques add meaning to the poem. The rhyme, alliteration and onomatopoeia because these things sound like a car for example-‘rev, roar, rev’.
